Natural Skin Care Routine for Busy Professionals

Natural Skin Care Routine for Busy Professionals

Why Create a Skincare Routine?

Today's busy professional woman can have it all! Career. Family. Whatever we want!  But having everything takes dedication, time and energy. That's why it's a good idea to establish self-care routines, like skincare, to help us be more confident and achieve all that we desire.

It’s no secret that as we get older, our skin doesn’t look as fresh as it once did. One way to keep our skin looking as young as possible is to establish a skincare routine using chemical-free, natural products. Having a regular skincare regimen enables you to become more knowledgeable about your skin over time, allowing for adjustments depending on the time of the year and changes in climate as we move and travel.

“I’m a big believer in that if you focus on good skin care, you really won’t need a lot of makeup.”

– Demi Moore

Elements to Include in Your Routine

Everyone has a unique personality as well as skin tone and texture. While some individuals simply need the occasional scrub for fresh, healthy skin, others may need a little more assistance to achieve their desired results. Here are the basic elements to include in your personal skincare routine.

This Savvy Professional Woman Can Have It All – Including Great Skin

Cleansing & Toning

Cleansing – Because our skin is exposed to toxins and pollutants every day, cleansing can make a huge difference in the quality and appearance of our skin. Not only does a good cleanser act as a makeup remover, it also can help stimulate blood flow and skin cell renewal. Be sure to gently clean your face daily with a chemical-free cleansing agent.

Skincare – It’s Not Just for Women

Toner – Another Step in the Skincare Routine

Toning – Sometimes washing simply can’t remove all the residue from buildup on our skin. Using a toner, or astringent, is a good way to make sure our skin is thoroughly clean. While commercial brands of toners are available, most are made with alcohol, which can dry out the skin. Try going the natural route and use healthier options like Witch Hazel and even lemon! Not only do they tone, they also clean and reduce the size of pores.

Moisturizing

Perhaps the most crucial part of any skincare routine is moisturizing. The skin requires moisture in order to have the soft, dewy look and texture everyone craves. Allowing moisture depletion results in dry, dull skin that shows the signs of aging more readily.

Daily moisturizing is generally recommended (depending on skin type). Your moisturizer should be free of chemicals and toxins and should be able to permeate the skin. Some wonderful examples of natural moisturizers are butter like cocoa and shea and coconut and avocado oils.

Exfoliating

The removal of dead skin cells is imperative to having healthy, radiant-looking skin. However daily exfoliation isn’t necessary. For those with “normal” skin, dermatologists recommend exfoliating 2-3 times a week. If you have sensitive or oily skin or are prone to acne or eczema, a weekly gentle exfoliation can help improve skin issues. Learn more about exfoliating here.
